A dissectologist is a person who loves doing jigsaw puzzles.
The first jigsaw puzzle was created in 1760s by a map engraver called John Spilsbury. He pasted one of his master maps onto wood and then cut around the countries. He gave it to children in the local school to help them with their geography education and it was a big hit with them. It wasn’t till the 1820s that the jigsaw puzzle became a popular children’s game. They were originally called dissected puzzles until the 1880s when the jigsaw was invented and was used to cut the puzzles and became known as jigsaw puzzles.
